Home For Schools & Trusts For Candidates About Us Start a Conversation

A higher baseline.
By design.

The Education Bureau was established on a simple conviction. That there are practices a serious consultancy should never compromise on, regardless of the brief or the budget. We offer a tiered service, because depth of search and complexity of mandate genuinely differ. What does not differ is the baseline beneath every engagement: personal contact with every applicant, considered judgement on every introduction, and the discretion the work deserves.

Three decisions
we have not revisited.

Education recruitment, when we began, was not short of agencies. It was short of agencies prepared to do the work properly. The standard assumption was that volume and judgement were in tension, and that scale required relaxing one to gain the other. We took a different view. The disciplines which made an introduction worth making in the first place, careful reading of a brief, real conversation with every candidate, considered judgement on every shortlist, were not luxuries to be shed under pressure. They were the entire point of the work.

Three decisions followed. The firm has been built on them.

01

To call every candidate, ourselves.

Not as a process step, but as a precondition. We will not represent a candidate we have not personally spoken to, regardless of how strong the CV looks on paper or how pressing the deadline.

02

To stay small enough to mean it.

We do not scale through associate networks, white-labelled partnerships or volume models. The brief is taken, held and worked by the same small team. That is by design, not by accident.

03

To work where we have genuine depth.

Our specialism is independent education across early years through senior, and governance through advisory. That is where most of our work sits. We will accept briefs from adjacent sectors when a client wants the standard we apply and is prepared to commission accordingly. We will not take work in sectors where we cannot bring real judgement to it.

Our Values

Four convictions that govern how we take a brief, how we treat the people involved, and what we will and will not do under pressure.

01

The quality of the introduction is the product.

We measure ourselves by the soundness of each introduction, not by their frequency. A relationship that returns to us five years on, on both sides of the placement, is the only metric that survives serious scrutiny.

02

Honest counsel, not comfortable agreement.

If the brief needs rethinking, if the salary sits below the market, or if a candidate is not quite right, we will say so. The most valuable thing a consultant can offer is the sentence the client did not want to hear.

03

Sector depth, earned not claimed.

We understand the difference between an EYFS Lead and a Nursery Manager, between a prep staffroom and a senior common room. Every consultant has worked in, or directly alongside, the settings we recruit for. The knowledge is operational, not decorative.

04

The work is about people, and we behave accordingly.

Every candidate carries a career, a family and a future into our conversations. Every institution is a community with a culture of its own. Neither is a transaction, and treating them as such is the failure mode the rest of the industry is built around.

A Team With Roots
in the Sector

Every member of our team has worked within, or worked closely alongside, the education environments we recruit for. That experience shapes how we take a brief, how we read a candidate, and what we consider worth placing on the table.

We are a small team by design. Our capacity is deliberately limited so that every client and every candidate receives the attention their situation deserves. When you work with us, you work with a consultant who knows your sector, holds your brief with care, and is reachable when it matters.

Sector Experience

Our consultants have direct professional experience in EYFS, prep, senior independent and sixth-form settings, not just knowledge of them from the outside.

Deliberately Boutique

We work with a carefully chosen number of clients at any one time, by design. Quality and scale, in this business, pull in opposite directions, and we have been clear about which we prioritise.

Reachable When It Matters

The consultant who takes the brief is the consultant who runs the search and answers the phone. No account-handler intermediaries, no work passed down the chain.
