We started The Education Bureau because we saw what the industry had become — high-volume, low-care, and fundamentally disconnected from the people and institutions it claimed to serve. So we built something different.

Why We Started
This Differently

We had seen the inside of the education sector — as practitioners, as parents, and as people who genuinely cared about what great schools and great teachers could do for children. What we saw in the recruitment industry serving that sector frustrated us enormously.

Schools receiving inboxes full of unvetted CVs, candidates whose details had been blasted to dozens of schools without their knowledge, and agency consultants who had never set foot inside an independent school in their lives, speaking with authority about culture and fit.

The Education Bureau was founded with a single, non-negotiable commitment: that we would never operate that way. Every candidate personally spoken to. Every introduction made with genuine conviction. Every school relationship built on trust, not transaction.

We are London-based because we believe the independent sector deserves a consultancy that truly understands the capital's extraordinary breadth of schools — and is connected enough to serve them well. But our reach, and our relationships, extend across the UK.

We remain deliberately small. Not because we have to be, but because we believe that the quality of what we do is inseparable from the time and care we invest in each appointment.

We work with a carefully curated number of school partners. We place a carefully curated number of candidates. This is not a volume business — and we have no ambition for it to become one.

We will tell you things you may not want to hear — if the brief needs to change, if the salary isn't competitive, if the candidate isn't right. Honest counsel is more valuable than comfortable agreement.

Every member of our team has worked within, or worked closely alongside, the education environments we recruit for. This is not a background detail — it defines everything about the way we work.
